Grace Lutheran offers a home school cover option to families who prefer to home school, while enjoying the benefits of being a part of a school community. We believe that parents should be able to educate their children and have the freedom to choose the curriculum that best fits their children’s needs. Families using our Home School Cover must provide our office with course descriptions, attendance records, semester grades, and other information. Students enrolled in our Home School Cover are invited to participate in extracurricular activities, field trips, chapel, assemblies, and the Ala Carte program. Grace Lutheran accepts home school students from all over the state of Alabama regardless of religion, culture, or ethnicity.
Homeschool families are welcome to join us Wednesday mornings for chapel in the Grace Lutheran Church Sanctuary. Chapel lasts about 30 minutes.
Our homeschool cover families may also join the school community for special assemblies. Information will be found in the weekly newsletter.
Homeschool families are welcome to participate in Grace’s seasonal sports and after school clubs and activities. Sign-up information will be sent home at the start of each sports season by email. Please contact the Athletic Director for additional information about the sports teams. Club/Activity sign-up information will be sent out as each activity begins. Contact the school office or designated contact to participate.
Families may choose to enroll their students in regular in-person classes through our Ala Carte Class program. For current class schedules, please contact the school office. Homeschool students may take achievement tests with the general school population in early Spring. Homeschool families will be notified by email and the weekly newsletter of upcoming testing. Parents must enroll their child for testing with the school office by the end of January so that sufficient testing materials can be ordered.
